Checking In

Today, Sunday, we drove with Golda down to the airport. We are trying our best to ensure that everything will go smoothly when we actually travel on the 18th. We took the carrier to the Delta counter and showed it to a young woman named Carmen. She said it was OK; but I was a little uncomfortable with the fact that she had only been working the counter for two weeks. So we called in a supervisor named Ana Esquivel.

Ms. Esquivel was very nice. She too thought that the carrier would be OK. She did a lot of typing into the computer. Actually she did a LOT of typing into the computer. I think she changed our seats so that we would be the only occupants of a two seat wide section, among other things. She said that the plane would be rather empty for our return on New Year’s Eve, and then we could spread out a little more. She said that she would be on duty the day we depart in case there is any problem.

We paid them $150 for “excess baggage” (as Golda will hereafter be known). Now the only other thing that we need for her trip is a health certificate. I’m going try to make an appointment for that tomorrow.
